My name is Francisco Vázquez Gallego. My family and friends call me Paco, a spanish nickname of Francisco.
I was born in the 70’s in the city of Barcelona.
I received my B.Sc. in Electronics Engineering (1995), M.Sc. (2000) and Ph.D. (2016) degrees in Telecommunication Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC).
I have got more than 15 years of experience in R&D, working in multidisciplinary projects for space and industrial applications.
In my early years in research, I had the pleasure of participating in the development and manufacturing of prototypes and flight equipment for the European Space Agency (ESA) and NASA.
Since January 2010, I work at the M2M department of CTTC as Senior Researcher and collaborate in several industrial and public funded research projects.
I have a broad and proven experience in the design and implementation of Machine-to-Machine (M2M) networks, embedded systems, and instrumentation.
I am IEEE Senior Member since 2011 and work as reviewer for numerous international conferences and scientific journals.
My main research interests are focused on wireless communications and include the design, theoretical analysis, modeling and implementation of energy-efficient protocols for wireless networks, MAC protocols, Distributed Queuing (DQ) access, M2M networks, and baseband digital signal processing algorithms (physical layer) in FPGA.
